Munich, August 29th, 2011 – Action sports shoe manufacturer Five Ten, a main sponsor of bike phenomenon Danny MacAskill, launch their new Five Ten Signature Danny MacAskill in Friedrichshafen at the Eurobike.
The Danny MacAskill edition was developed in cooperation with the Scottish bike star and stands for absolute reliability and grip, two aspects that are essential for anyone riding a bike.
Danny MacAskill already ranges among the living legends of the bike sports. With over 26 million views for his clip “Inspired Bicycles”, he holds the distinction of having the most-viewed sports video in YouTube history. And if you have seen his videos, you know what makes him fascinating. Together with cinematographer Stu Thomson he just released his last masterpiece two weeks ago which already has over 2 million views: Industrial Revolutions which was produced within the Concrete Circus project, in an old ironworks in Scotland.
Five Ten’s Stealth rubber and the footwear’s rugged construction won over the star who typically trashes other shoes in as little as a week. That’s why he decided to ride on Five Tens. And as many soccer stars have their own shoe-collection, Five Ten decided to dedicate a model to their biggest star, and out came: The Five Ten Danny MacAskill Signature Model! “It has been so exciting for me to work on a shoe with Five Ten! Over the years I have found it very hard to find a shoe that can stand up to the kind of abuse they get from riding both my trials bike and mountain bikes... I really wanted my shoe to have the great feel and grip of the freerider, but wanted to improve the durability in areas that get the most wear from riding my trials bike like the toes and heels. Plus, I wanted to try to giving better protection and cushioning around the heel area as I tend to bruise my heels a lot riding street trials. I also wanted the shoes to be fairly stealthy with a bit of detail as I'm not a bright shoe kind of guy. Hope you like them as much as I do!”
